The annual RAWR Awards is back with a vengeance with more stars, celebrities and more tv personalities! This time I'm not just a guest, I'm a media partner!

What is the RAWR Awards?

The award seeks to recognize local talents in the entertainment industry, build stronger ties with relevant and like-minded partners, and utilize this as a venue to express LionHearTV.net’s gratitude to everyone who supported the site since its first time to go online.

With a total of 25 awards (under 3 major categories - Lion, Cub and Pride) at stake this year, it will be a night to remember especially with a gorgeous venue like Le Rêve Pool Party.

Dress to the nines on November 14, Wednesday, 6pm and I'll catch you there?

Read on for the who's -who of nominees per category

Weddings are fucking expensive am I right? And not to mention high-stress all around. Drama-rama like there's someone paying them to act out. I can't blame the couples getting married to be stressed emotionally, mentally and physically with all that needs to be prepared—It's.a.whole.freaking.production. Where do you even start right?

Last mother's day (May 13th) I was invited by Century City Mall to spend a mom's day at their event's place. Naturally I invited my mother but for reasons unknown she was nowhere to be found. I kid, she couldn't make it SO not one to let things go to waste, I had a mom's day, without my mudra.

The buffet spread was good and the decor was very nicely done. Very festive and it screamed summer. The thick cables on the floor were a little hazardous though and the walking paths were a little narrow. Maybe there were a touch too many tables + chairs(?).

The event had different programs for parents regarding parenting, beauty and food! Things like how to take care of toddlers, How to prepare easy and healthy meals for your kids and How to put on a natural face-makeup by Avon. There's also a separate kid's shark show, at the top floor, which was only accessible if I had kids with me.

This event was for PHP 999/1K/person :for the buffet, talks/tips/tricks and goodie bag (not sure if it's just for bloggers) it's...ok. There weren't a lot of people left by the time I went there (about an hour past 12PM ). It was nice though for a mom day and I still very much commend them (it's hard to handle events! ) but it definitely could use more work regarding the program and venue/setup.

Let's move on from that and on to a little surprise! What's up for grabs? Prenagen mommy Milk Drink (2 boxes) and Milna Rusk for infants (6 cookies).

I just got back from the highly anticipated beauty-blogger laden beauty event of the year (featured here) and here's a little recap.

A disclaimer. I received a free pass to the event.  A "Glamderella" pass to be precise, and per pass (there are 4 categories) you are allowed access to certain areas.

The Glamderella pass had access to all the talks and the booths that offered the free makeup makeuover and hair. And of course the chance to meet-and-greet their favorite beauty bloggers/ You tubers/Influencers.

Now to be honest unless you're a super fan of the featured beauty influencers or a fan of these kinds of talks in general, getting the cheapest pass won't get you very far.

Even the second cheapest if I may be a little bold. The truest best experience (imo) you can get at the event was if you had the top 2 higher tiered passes, which had access to makeup classes and lots of freebies in the loot bag. (for reference sake I had a water bottle in mine)

The event was from 9AM to 10PM I believe and for the most part the scheduled events were on-the-dot. So props for that. I was there from around 2PM to 5. The event place itself was HUGE for the small amount of people present whilst I was there, so the booths looked tiny in contrast. It felt like nothing much was going on understandably there really wasn't much available to me. So I guess the experience felt bare to me.

Maybe my tune would be different if I stayed longer to truly experience the whole event but unfortunately my schedule wouldn't permit me.

All-in-all I would categorize the event a success as it's one of the smoothest (in terms of structure) beauty conferences I've attended. Plus the decor, props, stage design etc looked really good snaps for the organizers.

Have you been to GLAMCONMNL? What did you think? Let me know!

xx,
CJ

PS. Thanks for the opportunity Leo My!

how to throw a party to remember how to throw a party that everyone will remember

The season for get-togethers is coming and some of these occasions are better celebrated at
night. Beer pong challenges, foam parties and gourmet feasts are frequently set on -ber months when workload is stable and friends are back from extended vacations. Organizing a party after hours is a challenge because some friends opt out when celebrations are past curfew.

The best memories are made when the sun is down, however. The best DJs, international acts and cultural festivals all end up in the evening. Colorful fluorescent and LED lights dominate party places and bring happy hour to the next level. If you are caught in confusion on how to throw the party of a lifetime, you use these tips as a guide to make each attendee have a great time.

1. Select a theme carefully
Following a theme for the night would be perfect. Some common themes for night parties are The Great Gatsby, Las Vegas Casino, Moulin Rouge, the '60s ('70s or '80s will also do), Pop Icons, and other themes that bring the illusion of fun. Try not to complicate the theme. Choose one that gives flexibility when it comes to outfit choices. Picking a theme that's too specific will give you challenge in décor options.

2. Notify the attendees early
Following from the above, themed parties require effort on the part of the participants. Make sure that you give them ample time to look for the right outfits and accessories by notifying them ahead of time. A lot of people choose to skip a party because of last-minute notice. This applies in particular if you have competition like certain holidays.

3. Choose a suitable party venue
Of course, you need to choose the right place for the party. The venue should be spacious enough to accommodate all the attendees and décors. When choosing a venue, prioritize comfort. There are plenty nightlife party venues in Manila, that is if you choose to hold the party somewhere in the metro. Some places to check out are:

● Chaos in City of Dreams, Paranaque
● House Manila at the Resorts World, Paranaque
● Prime Upscale Club in Tomas Morato cor. Timog Avenue, Quezon City
● Prive in BGC, Taguig
● Skye in 28th Street cor. 11th Avenue, BGC, Taguig
● Valkyrie in Uptown Bonifacio, BGC, Taguig

While at it, make sure that the management is okay with decorating the venue. Alternatively, why don't you choose a party venue in Manila that you can tie with your chosen theme? For example, have a Mexican party at a Latin bar. You can go this route, or you may always start with a blank canvas. Your call really.

4. Plan the venue décor
Now that you've picked a fitting venue, the next step is to determine how are you going to dress up the place. Following a theme, your goal is to create an atmosphere where attendees would feel like they are being transported to a different place. Such undertaking requires a keen attention to detail. Always, always, always factor in the dimension of the available space. This means having an ocular inspection way ahead of time so you can plan your décors properly.

5. Plan the menu
Your choices of foods and drinks should also adhere to your preferred theme. The venue management may take care of this portion but make sure that the people understand your menu requirements. Yes, the food alone can make or break your party! So, make it memorable for your guests too. They may forget the décors but never the food and drinks.

Planning a night party is a mighty undertaking, but that doesn't mean you cannot tackle the task. Make it fun and memorable! And such stance applies to all aspects—from the theme to the invites to the venue, décors and menu. If you prepared for it, your themed party would definitely become a success.

calyxta jigs mayuga 5 makeup trends
Starting off this July with a little trend report - 5 Fall/Winter Beauty Trends to be exact that I believe anyone can recreate and incorporate into their 2017 looks. Most of these looks are probably in your arsenal already lately or even for years now.

Tea drinker? Then read on.

There's no denying that I'm an avid fan of tea and that consequently extends to (legitimate not those powdered ones) milk teas. So hearing about Php20 milk teas from a notable brand, my brain doesn't need any more convincing other than, "MILK TEA?".

sm-woman-summer-fashion-show-2017
When a plus-size model walked out I visibly lit up. Then came the POC models. Then the someone with Pink hair and I realized this wasn't any old typical we-only-employ-thin-models type of fashion show.

Summer and beach season is fast approaching. And almost everyone is ready to get their tan on for that beachy-summer-y glow! But sometimes we get carried away with the tan and end up looking quite darker and ashy than the Tita JLO peg we originally intended to do.

I know some guys who aren't Monday people. The feeling of dread usually starts on a Sunday and gradually increases as the day goes by. I also know that Tuesday is just as bad as Monday (at least it is for me sometimes). While technically not being the start of the week, it's just as far from Friday as is Monday.

What usually makes people happy? (Apart from long weekends, paid holidays and bonuses)

It's November! A few more days until you-know-what and Ugh. THE YEAR HAS FUCKING FLOWN RIGHT BEFORE MY FACE AND I CANNOT. I bet you guys already have your Christmas decorations on and are in full Christmas spirit once Halloween came to an end. We start prepping pretty early here in the Philippines don't we? What's up with that though? :))

No really, can someone tell me?

I've been liking the cooler weather. Not so much that it's always damp. My clothes. The curtains. The atmosphere, but the cooler nights afford me a more peaceful sleep.

Here are just some of the things that have happened these past few weeks.

It's really a Do-It-Yourself kind of DIY, not the Hey-I-need-your-help-sis/mom/bro/pet-to-put-this-mixture-that-smells-a-little-like-piss-on-me-DIY.

A lot of people have coloured hair here in the Philippines. And why not, it's a sure-fire way to revamp your look. I mean I've changed my hair's colour countless times whether at home or at the salon. Really good salons can get expensive, especially if you want something more than the typical shades of dark brown and sometimes salons can get it wrong too. Plus you're a busy superwoman juggling 10 things at once who has time to go to a salon anyway?

Any summer plans this May? Other than usual swimming plans, how about going to Batangas for some arts and culture immersion? Would you be more interested to know it's all for the environment? Read on for more details!

CJ

Ah, FS Cosmetics. Makeup Artists' favorite local brand in the Philippines and many a beauty enthusiast's "right-of-passage" product.

It's usually one of the brands that makeup users / lovers here start with on their journey to makeup because of it's affordability, no-nonsense approach and efficacy.

Well they're back at it again with a rebrand : new name, new packaging, new formula and new products.
fs-features-and-shades-cosmetics-rebrand-relaunch-beauty-rendezvouz-2
I was privy to the relaunch of FS Cosmetics / Features & Shades Cosmetics at last month's beauty rendezvous at this adorable-kitschy-urban-cool-looking bar + cafe.

Visit this cafe + bar when you get the chance!

The house was full of beauty bloggers, online influencers and cameramen tuning-in to the history of FS.
fs-features-and-shades-cosmetics-rebrand-relaunch-beauty-rendezvouz-6
FS Assistant GM and Owner/GM answering the audience's burning questions about the formula and ingredients.
fs-features-and-shades-cosmetics-rebrand-relaunch-beauty-rendezvouz-7
Owner & GM Edmon Ngo, revealing to us that their curlers, rival that of an internationally known Asian curler brand (care to guess which one?) and how to know if your curler is good quality. (psst check for screws under the pad)

I currently own one of these, and they don't pinch my eyes unlike the generic curlers I've tried before.
fs-features-and-shades-cosmetics-rebrand-relaunch-beauty-rendezvouz-8
The makeup artist Yciar Castillo also did a live demo of  FS's products and relating to us that the concealer (and 2-way cake ?) is virtually waterproof once set and blended in.

No forealz, she even did a water (then tissue) test to prove it!
fs-features-and-shades-cosmetics-rebrand-relaunch-beauty-rendezvouz-9
Amazing colour selection for Feature & Shade's eye shadow singles, now with matte packaging. You're also free to mix & match four shades and place it in a sleek matte palette.
fs-features-and-shades-cosmetics-rebrand-relaunch-beauty-rendezvouz-10
These gorgeous bullets (reminiscent of MAC's Viva Glam line) are from their Nude Lipstick collection. They come in matte and creamy finishes.

And based on my swatch, they're very decently pigmented. The bullet themselves have a nice weight to them. Definitely doesn't feel "cheap" or "unsturdy". And I can say that for all of the products I've seen there.
fs-features-and-shades-cosmetics-rebrand-relaunch-beauty-rendezvouz-11
left to right : swatches of three of the Nude Lipsticks, FS True Light Liquid Lipsticks (which come in glossy and demi-matte finishes) and the wide range of colours of FS's lipsticks.
fs-features-and-shades-cosmetics-rebrand-relaunch-beauty-rendezvouz-12
The "Loose Powder Brush" or stippling brush which you can use for both liquids and powders, compacts or loose and dense Slanted Concealer Brush both brushes piqued my interest at the rendezvous.
fs-features-and-shades-cosmetics-rebrand-relaunch-beauty-rendezvouz-13
FS kindly gave me a kit with some of their best-sellers and new products. Do you see the primer?

I'll be testing these out more but if you're interested here are my first impressions on some of them.

  • Mascarade Volumizing Mascara - Natural-volume. Doesn't sting. The formula is a little wet. I want to see if it'll change in a few weeks since I like drier formulas more.
  • FS Primer - Pore-filling silicone primer. Similar to Benefit's Porefessional, even the colour. It beads/bunches up as you rub it but it disappears eventually. No particular feelings about this yet.
  • FS Powder Blushes with Vit. E - GET THESE. THESE ARE GOOD. They come in matte and shimmery shades. The packaging is still glossy though, would've liked it if it were the same with the rest of the products with the matte black. I have mine in twinkle tan and it's a beautiful brown-tawny colour. Beautiful. Swatch it when you get the chance.
  • FS Loose Powder Brush - Love it. If you're looking for a stippling / duo fiber brush brush this'll do. This type of brush is very versatile in my opinion.
  • FS Single Eyeshadow in Ash Bronze - Smooth and very pigmented. True to the name it's an ashy type cool-toned brown.
  • FS Luscious Lipstick in Matte Brick - Gorgeous "push" packaging like how the Chanel Rouge Allure lipsticks open. Smooth. Matte. Amazing colour pay-off and no strong "old-timey lipstick" smell.
fs-features-and-shades-cosmetics-rebrand-relaunch-beauty-rendezvouz-14With the packaging, [supposed] formula upgrade, line extension and new product inclusions it's safe to say that Features & Shades is really coming-in for the kill in terms of playing with other local and international brands available in the market —whether they be drugstore, mid-range or high-end. I can't wait to see what else they have in store. :)

Have you tried this brand? How about the new products from FS?

xx,
CJ

PS. I can't confirm the formula upgrade since I don't have the "old" products in my possession.
PPS. Makeup Artist Fanny Serrano's contract with FS ended in 2011 explaining the name change. FS is owned by Cosmetics Revelation Corporation.

#TastetheChill - The official campaign/hashtag for Sosro's real fruit tea drinks, to be specific, its hero-product Sosro Freeze for this hot-hot summer. The go-getter's choice for refreshing flavored drinks is now here in the Philippines. Read on "chillmates" and check out some photos during the Warm Summer Nights themed launch.

Sosro Fruit Tea, the millennial go-getter’s preferred real tea drink, has officially launched in the Philippines just in time for one of the most-anticipated seasons of the year—summer!

The launch was held at the very spacious and the "IT" place to be —The Palace Pool Club. With the Warm Summer Nights Theme.
Sosro Fruit Tea Freeze represents the cool and collected millennial who knows how to effortlessly mix work and play. With its one-of-a-kind blend of Strawberry and Grape plus its unique icy sensation, Freeze is the perfect drink for staying cool.

The event was hosted by the super charming Joyce Pring

We were treated to a lighted dance show along with music mixes by Celebrity DJ Marc Naval.

Reddimart President Jerbie Ong (right) introducing Sosro and getting the brand, that was originally from Indonesia, here in the PH.

While waiting for the big celebrity ambassador reveal, I tried Sosro's Freeze variant.

It's pretty good! Leaves a minty, cooling feeling while drinking. Really nice when it's hot out and you to grab something cool, flavored and sweet. Other flavors available are Strawberry, Guava and Apple. It's good to know they use real tea in ther drinks too.

Suprise! It's Sofia Andres (donning her ice goddess garb) this generation's' teen queen, chosen as the Sosro's official ambassador.

From Manila with Love Team Represent! :)) lol

One of the highlights was the surprise performance of UDD to cap off the night! Amazing as always UDD!

Where to check out Sosro : SM Hypermarkets, Landmark, Sta. Lucia Grocery, Tropical Hut, Hi-Top Supermarket, Walter Mart, Pioneer Center, and other leading supermarkets.

Have you tried a bottle? What kind of flavored drink do you grab from the convenience stores/supermarkets when you want to chill out?

xx,
CJ

PS. As always, keep your sugar levels within a reasonable limit! Also drink plenty of water to wash down the sugar and to effectively hydrate yourselves. :*
