how to throw a party to remember how to throw a party that everyone will remember

The season for get-togethers is coming and some of these occasions are better celebrated at
night. Beer pong challenges, foam parties and gourmet feasts are frequently set on -ber months when workload is stable and friends are back from extended vacations. Organizing a party after hours is a challenge because some friends opt out when celebrations are past curfew.

The best memories are made when the sun is down, however. The best DJs, international acts and cultural festivals all end up in the evening. Colorful fluorescent and LED lights dominate party places and bring happy hour to the next level. If you are caught in confusion on how to throw the party of a lifetime, you use these tips as a guide to make each attendee have a great time.

1. Select a theme carefully
Following a theme for the night would be perfect. Some common themes for night parties are The Great Gatsby, Las Vegas Casino, Moulin Rouge, the '60s ('70s or '80s will also do), Pop Icons, and other themes that bring the illusion of fun. Try not to complicate the theme. Choose one that gives flexibility when it comes to outfit choices. Picking a theme that's too specific will give you challenge in décor options.

2. Notify the attendees early
Following from the above, themed parties require effort on the part of the participants. Make sure that you give them ample time to look for the right outfits and accessories by notifying them ahead of time. A lot of people choose to skip a party because of last-minute notice. This applies in particular if you have competition like certain holidays.

3. Choose a suitable party venue
Of course, you need to choose the right place for the party. The venue should be spacious enough to accommodate all the attendees and décors. When choosing a venue, prioritize comfort. There are plenty nightlife party venues in Manila, that is if you choose to hold the party somewhere in the metro. Some places to check out are:

● Chaos in City of Dreams, Paranaque
● House Manila at the Resorts World, Paranaque
● Prime Upscale Club in Tomas Morato cor. Timog Avenue, Quezon City
● Prive in BGC, Taguig
● Skye in 28th Street cor. 11th Avenue, BGC, Taguig
● Valkyrie in Uptown Bonifacio, BGC, Taguig

While at it, make sure that the management is okay with decorating the venue. Alternatively, why don't you choose a party venue in Manila that you can tie with your chosen theme? For example, have a Mexican party at a Latin bar. You can go this route, or you may always start with a blank canvas. Your call really.

4. Plan the venue décor
Now that you've picked a fitting venue, the next step is to determine how are you going to dress up the place. Following a theme, your goal is to create an atmosphere where attendees would feel like they are being transported to a different place. Such undertaking requires a keen attention to detail. Always, always, always factor in the dimension of the available space. This means having an ocular inspection way ahead of time so you can plan your décors properly.

5. Plan the menu
Your choices of foods and drinks should also adhere to your preferred theme. The venue management may take care of this portion but make sure that the people understand your menu requirements. Yes, the food alone can make or break your party! So, make it memorable for your guests too. They may forget the décors but never the food and drinks.

Planning a night party is a mighty undertaking, but that doesn't mean you cannot tackle the task. Make it fun and memorable! And such stance applies to all aspects—from the theme to the invites to the venue, décors and menu. If you prepared for it, your themed party would definitely become a success.

I've been liking the cooler weather. Not so much that it's always damp. My clothes. The curtains. The atmosphere, but the cooler nights afford me a more peaceful sleep.

Here are just some of the things that have happened these past few weeks.

Currently resting from general cleaning so I'm lying on my bed and  I thought to share what/who I've been listening to on my Spotify lately. And my feelings about spotify is nothing but positive as you can probably tell by the title.

SAM SMITH

His voice, golden. His face, angelic. What's not to love? I'm well aware these are very mainstream music nowadays, so hipsters, close this window asap. He is really really good with a very unique voice singing poignant lyrics (read: stay with me).  I have nothing but love for this guy.

IGGY AZALEA

She is absolutely stunning, I have no words. Apart from spitting rap skills I can only attribute to one other woman rapper, her whole album is a solid A. I like most of her songs, some I actually don't approve of (I find it a little crass) but these two are just on repeat, and I don't mind one bit.

So these are all of them. I love spotify and have been using it since I got it. One thing to note though is the restriction of "free" users (like myself) I'm only limited to six skips in tracks on my mobile app. Even so, this has replaced my iTunes and Window's player. I don't think I can look back now.

What have you been playing on repeat lately?

xx,
CJ
And it's making me sad and want to just lie down whilst staring blankly into space to contemplate how much this song is hitting me to the very embers of my core.

God, can I get more melodramatic than this?

Yes. Yes I can. So here's the song for you all. #allthefeelsintheworld

The lyrics, the melody, the harmony of voices and the fact that they decided that this song be sung by both a female and male is a smart move.

That aside, Ariana Grande is, for lack of better adjectives, the absolute bomb. Gorgeous and talented and gorgeous, did I say that already?

Her whole "look", in my opinion is in complete contrast to the sultriness of her voice. Ever since "The Way ft. Mac Miller" she has been on repeat on my playlist.

Very reminiscent of Mariah Carey when she sings those high notes, she still has something unique to her. Since I can't elaborate on what that "thing" is, let's say a certain "Je ne sais qois" like most people would say when asked to describe something they can't really describe. Not because, they lack the vocabulary, oh no. (Lies)

These two songs are for me the "what if" and "what happened" in the love spectrum. After playing The Way on repeat for a bajillion (Pretty sure that's an actual word) times, what takes its place is Almost is Never Enough ft. Nathan Sykes (Who is Zac-Efron-Hairspray-Movie-pretty-boy-type of handsome) from The Wanted, whom I think is underrated in terms of actual singing prowess, because they each have an amazing set of pipes.

There's actually one more song on loop, very much on the same somber love note I'm currently getting sucked in to, but I'll leave it for another post lest my feels completely get hold of my sanity.

What songs are on loop in your playlist lately?

PS. I don't know if I'll watch the City of Bones, but it does look interesting.

“Life's great happiness is to be convinced we are loved.”
― Victor Hugo, Les Misérables

Who here has read Les Miserables? Even better if you watched the musical. Film version hmm, so-so I guess. It is a bit tricky to translate a play full of singing actors to the big screen without being awkward and so out of place.

Riding in cars with boys, kegger-infused relationships or ( in my case ) just plain dancing in your pajamas in your room. Your childhood music stays with you  for better or worse. It may evoke certain kinds of pleasant as well as unpleasant memories in you but no matter how unpleasant, it made you who you are today and you're not as screwed-up as you thought you were gonna be. Which is just the way you like it. Not what you had exactly in mind when you were dreaming of a richer more successful you, but those are really subjective terms, and you're still alive, that's always a plus right? All my blabbering aside, this is a great mixtape.
