HAUL + SWATCHES : LA Colors Mineral Eyeshadow Duo and Waterproof Mascara

by - 11 December

Christmas is fast approaching, almost as fast as my aunt and uncles retreating into their hiding places. And unbelievable as it may be it's only a FEW days away. Where has the year gone? I feel like I barely did anything to pass the time by. Everyday's been filled with idle bliss(?), for the most part; not bad, but not fun either. Sigh...

To start the Christmas countdown, here's a post about my latest haul, which is not exactly a haul, because  they were gifted to me by my mom, as the 1st part of my Christmas gift; because we're impatient like that.

Mom : Do you want the 1st part of your Christmas gift now? Or do you want to wait for a few more days?
Me : Hmm...What is it?
Mom : Makeup.
Me : Gimmmmeeeeeeee! :D

And so here I am with my first impressions and swatches.

I've never really had a duo and mascara before from this brand, I've had a lipstick and a palette of eye shadows though. And I can safely say that the eye shadows weren't that impressive.

LA Colors Mineral Eyeshadow Duo is in Subtle Reef.

As you can see when I rubbed my finger on the shadows, little powders can be seen. They're pigmented enough but as I said not impressive. The fallouts are annoying as hell  as well but the packaging is nice, with a little applicator and mini mirror included. I wouldn't say the packaging is sturdy because I feel like if I accidentally dropped this from a height of 2.5  feet, I'm almost positive it'll crack.

LEFT : Light Gold Champagne                                                  RIGHT : Copper Brown
As I understand, this is a dollar brand. Cheap drugstore makeup. Much like E.L.F (?), I'm guessing.

Here are some swatches on my hand without a primer.

From the swatches you can see the right one's like an orange-brown coppery shade. Both are shimmery but when blended the copper one's glitter/shimmers are less obvious than the lighter one. I like the colors well enough. And the packaging itself looks pretty, albeit flimsy. Definitely more excited about the light gold champagne color.

Lasting power is so-so. I rubbed it off and the highlight disappeared completely leaving tiny hints of glitter. The copper one can still be seen though.

As for the mascara, I don't want to open it yet since I still have my Missha 4D mascara in black, which is pretty good and affordable as well for a Korean makeup brand.

What I find cool about this brand also is that in the packaging it said that it's cruelty-free along with the little picture of a bunny; that's always a plus. :)

WHAT'S COOL :

* Mineral Makeup
* Cruelty-free
* Affordable
* Available at Watsons (I've seen this brand at SM Megamall)

WHAT'S NOT SO COOL:

* Chalky Chalky Chalky
* Fallouts Galore
* Packaging is flimsy

Have you tried anything from this brand? How do you like it? I'd like to look into more of their products. How about you? Have you bought anything new lately? Make a post about it and let me know! :)

  2. wow they're surprisingly very pigmented, too bad there's so much fall outs. BTW, I bought the lash serum here http://www.ebay.ph/itm/370673137720?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1439.l2649

  3. I haven't tried any from this brand yet but the mascara does look pretty nice since it's a smudge and water-proof mascara. I just hope it lives up to its claims as I have always been disappointed to product claims most of the time >_<

  9. Yeah! They both have some good stuff though. La Colors pressed mineral powders I hear are good and smooth. :)

  11. I have a cheap-y liner that I like. I bought it for around Php 150. :) It's ok. Dries too fast but I can make it softer. :)
